Renters Insurance: Why a Policy Is Essential
Does anyone know where I can get reasonably priced renters insurance that will accept a “dangerous breed” ?
First of all I would like to say how annoyed I am that good dogs have to be judged by a dangerous breed category! I own a doberman pincher. He is two years old and an excellent dog. I will be renting soon and I am having trouble finding renters insurance that will accept a doberman. I live in upstate NY. Does anyone know of any? Thank you!
Not all companies exclude dobies as a high risk breed. I’d say, call some larger, local INDEPENDENT agents, and ask them for a company that will do them.
Otherwise, Foremost INsurance WILL write renters insurance, as long as the dog has never bitten anyone, and make you sign a dog liability exclusion form – they won’t cover dogbites.
But again, rather than YOU shopping around, let an agent do it, because a dobie isn’t NEARLY the risk of, say, an American Staffordshire.
